Building Strong Keiki,

One Stroke at a Time

A place for keiki ages 10 to 18 to learn, grow and experience Hawaiian canoe paddling in a safe, supportive, family-oriented environment.

Our Hale

The place we proudly call home

No Nā Keiki is proud to call Heʻeia State Park in Kāneʻohe, Oʻahu, our home.

Nestled along the shores of beautiful Kāneʻohe Bay, Heʻeia State Park is a place rich in Hawaiian history, culture, and natural beauty. For generations, Heʻeia has been a place of gathering, voyaging, fishing, and caring for the land and ocean. Today, it continues to serve as a place where Hawaiian traditions are practiced, shared, and passed on to future generations.

For No Nā Keiki, Heʻeia is more than just a location—it is where our coaches, keiki, families, and volunteers come together to learn, paddle, support one another, and create lifelong memories.

Questions from parents

Answers for new families

The things families ask most before their first season. Can't find your question? Reach out, we're happy to help.

What should my child bring to practice?

A paddle, a personal flotation device (PFD), a water bottle or hydration pack and a towel. A change of clothes is optional. Quick-dry clothes, a hat and reef-safe sunscreen help too.

Does my child need to know how to swim?

No, there's no swim test. Newer paddlers who are still building experience must wear a life jacket (PFD) on the water.

Does my child need their own canoe?

No. Club canoes are available, though availability may be limited as our program grows. Families provide their own paddle and PFD. Many experienced paddlers eventually buy their own OC-1, but owning a canoe is never required.

Does my child need experience to join?

No. Most of our paddlers started with no experience, and coaches teach the basics from day one.

What ages can join the club?

Paddlers aged 10 to 18.

Who supervises practices?

Experienced coaches lead every session, with adult volunteers and a first-aid kit on shore.

What happens if the weather is bad?

The safety and well-being of our keiki always come first. If conditions aren't safe, practice moves on land or is cancelled, and families are notified through our team communication app. Some practices may launch from Heʻeia Kea Pier or another approved spot depending on conditions, and families always hear about location changes in advance.

How do I sign the waiver?

After you pay the registration fee, the waiver is emailed to the parent or guardian automatically. Sign it online; no printing needed.
